WATER SAFETY TRAINING

Alex Davis AED Safety Services

The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) is the leading provider of training and education in water safety, rescue, lifesaving, lifeguarding and life support skills in the UK and Ireland.

AED are proud to offer the RLSS National Water Safety Management Programme (NWSMP) which has been designed with employers in mind to help them meet their civil and statutory obligations.

Through consultation with industry and leading bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and the Institute of Outdoor Learning, the RLSS has identified the need to improve water safety across a wide range of working environments and industry sectors. Where employees have health and safety responsibilities in, near or around water, it is essential that they receive the appropriate training. Everyone who works around water will benefit from the knowledge and confidence to identify risks, make informed decisions and to deal with emergencies if and when they occur.

AED can design, deliver and present a relevant training programme to suit your working environment.

Programme Course Overview

Water Safety Awareness Module/Award

This course identifies the risk factors and hazards associated with water and how the selection of simple, effective control measures and emergency response skills can prevent accidents.

Environment Specific Module/Award

Hazard identification and risk assessment are explored in more detail. Delegates will complete a range of in-water simulated rescue techniques up to waist level in still, river or coastal water, depending on your own environment.

In Water Rescue Module/Award

This course includes swimming and rescue capabilities in deeper water and simulated rescues of a conscious casualty over 30 metres distance and an unconscious casualty over 15 metres.

Basic Life Support Module/Award

Delegates will learn how and when to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED); learn how to care for a choking casualty; and how to put a casualty into the recovery position. All first aid procedures include adult, infant and baby.

The Water Safety Awareness Module and the Environment Specific Module can be held on the same day. If the In Water Rescue Module is required, then this can be arranged to take place the following day. The Basic Life Support Module can be combined with any of the other modules.
